Income Tax Assistance

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

VITA is a program comprised of volunteers that offer free tax assistance to people that cannot afford professional assistance in filing their taxes.  Volunteers help to prepare basic tax returns for those with low-to-moderate incomes.

To be eligible for VITA, individuals must have an income below $51,000 for the tax year (income guidelines may vary from one location to another).

VITA programs are available at a variety of community locations including neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, and shopping malls.

For locations in Allegheny County contact the United Way at (412) 255-1155.

To find a location elsewhere in Pennsylvania, contacted the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) at 1-800-829-1040.
