Brooke S. G. Molina, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, Pediatrics, Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh and Director of the Youth and Family Research Program. She is also a licensed clinical psychologist in Pennsylvania. Dr. Molina researches the etiology, course, and treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and substance use, including use of alcohol and other substances by youth and adults. Her research program, federally funded continuously since 1995, includes longitudinal studies of children and adults with and without ADHD, including the Pittsburgh ADHD Longitudinal Study (PALS) and Multimodal Treatment Study of Children with ADHD (MTA), neuroimaging studies of brain structure and function in relation to ADHD symptom course and outcomes, treatment studies of behavioral and pharmacologic approaches, and development of primary care-based strategies for management of ADHD including reduction of stimulant diversion and misuse.
Dr. Molina is actively involved in the mentoring and career development of scientists. She is Director of the Developmental Alcohol Research Training (DART) T32 program and chairs the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry Academic Promotions Committee. She is a member of several peer-reviewed journal editorial boards and has reviewed extensively for the NIH and other national and international grant-funding agencies. She is President-elect of the American Professional Society on ADHD and Related Disorders (APSARD; term effective 2026-2028). Dr. Molina earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Kent State University, Master of Arts and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Arizona State University, and she trained as a postdoctoral scholar in the University of Pittsburgh Alcohol Research Training Program before joining the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh.
