CAP+ABLE Study

Comorbidities Adult-diagnosed Psychiatrist-prescribed + ADHD Behaviors, Lifestyle, and Environment Study

Principal Investigator: Brooke Molina, PhD

Funding Source: National Institute on Drug Abuse

The purpose of this research study is to learn more about women who have been diagnosed with, and treated for, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adulthood (age 18 or older).

Sixty women, ages 18-22, who are currently receiving stimulant medication as part of their ADHD treatment will participate in this research study. Approximately half of the women will be receiving their care in a primary care setting, with the remaining women receiving their care in a psychiatry or behavioral health setting.

Participants will complete an electronic survey from their home on their smartphone (or another device). They will also complete an interview over Zoom. Finally, eligible women will identify a parent or another adult who is able to report on their behavior in childhood.

This project will provide an important opportunity to expand our knowledge of ADHD and ADHD treatment in adult women – a group historically underrepresented in research.
